Our club is not incorporated and has no dues. Basically, you join the Yahoo group and start getting the emails about our activities. We are afilliated with our charitable brother group, the Sandia Bears.
Sandia Bears Albuquerque, NM
Our club is in the process of becoming incorporated and has basic dues, and holds fundraisers for charity. One of them is the once a month fundraiser at Sidewinders Ranch Bar the second Sunday of the month from 4 to 8. Our brother club is the Bears of Mañana.
Why two groups? One group, the Bears of Mañana, is all about socializing and hanging out together. Parties at someone's den, an outing to Cliff's amusement park, Movie night - those are all activities that the Bears of Mañana would do. The other group is our activist group. Strengthening the gay community of Albuquerque, raising funds for charity, volunteering in the Albuquerque community at large - those are things the Sandia Bears would do. The Bears of Mañana has been around forever, is very loose, has no officers, we just post messages and activities on the group messageboard and people show up. The Sandia Bears is structured, is new, and we vote on activities. Which one you join depends on which activities suit you, and there's no problem with joining both.
